When the verse "If you desire Allah and His Messenger" [Ahzab 33:29] was revealed, the Prophet ﷺ came in to me and began with me. He said, "Ayesha, I am going to mention something to you, and there is no need for you to hasten until you consult your parents."She said, "By Allah, he knew that my parents would never have ordered me to part from him."Then he recited to me, "Prophet, say to your wives, 'If you desire the life of this world and its adornment'" [Ahzab 33:28].I said, "Is it about this that I should consult my parents? Indeed, I desire Allah and His Messenger."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, this is an error, and the first version is closer to what is correct. Allah knows best.
