I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I am a woman from the family of Khalid, and my husband so-and-so has sent me notice of my divorce. I asked his family for maintenance and lodging, but they refused me."They said, "Messenger of Allah, he has sent her three pronouncements of divorce."She said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Maintenance and lodging are due to a woman only when her husband still has the right to take her back."
أخبرنا أحمد بن يحيى قال حدثنا أبو نعيم قال حدثنا سعيد بن يزيد الأحمسي قال حدثنا الشعبي قال
أتيت النبي ﷺ فقلت أنا بنت آل خالد وإن زوجي فلانا أرسل إلي بطلاقي وإني سألت أهله النفقة والسكنى فأبوا علي قالوا يا رسول الله إنه قد أرسل إليها بثلاث تطليقات قالت فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنما النفقة والسكنى للمرأة إذا كان لزوجها عليها الرجعة

Muslim narrated it, Divorce, chapter on the woman irrevocably divorced not being entitled to maintenance, no. 42/1480, from the hadith of Shaybi with this wording, and it is in Kubra, no. 5596.
