Ayesha reported,

The wives of the Prophet ﷺ sent Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She asked permission to come in while he was lying with me under my cloak, and he gave her permission.She said, "Messenger of Allah, your wives have sent me to you to ask you for fairness regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa," and I stayed silent.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "My little daughter, do you not love whom I love?"She said, "Yes."He said, "Then love this one."Fatimah rose when she heard that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and went back to the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and told them what she had said and what he had said to her.They said to her, "We do not think you have helped us in anything. Go back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say to him, your wives call on you for fairness regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa."Fatimah said, "No, by Allah, I will never speak to him about her again."Ayesha said, "So the wives of the Prophet ﷺ sent Zaynab bint Jahsh to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She was the one among the wives of the Prophet ﷺ who used to vie with me in standing with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I never saw a woman better in religion than Zaynab, more fearful of Allah , more truthful in speech, more attentive to the ties of kinship, greater in charity, or more given to exerting herself in the work she gave in charity and by which she drew near to Allah, apart from a sharpness of temper in her, from which she would quickly return.She asked permission to come in to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with Ayesha under her cloak, in the same state he had been in when Fatimah came in. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her permission, and she said, 'Messenger of Allah, your wives have sent me to ask you for fairness regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafa.'Then she turned on me and went on at length, while I watched the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and watched his eyes to see whether he would permit me to answer her. Zaynab did not stop until I knew that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not dislike it if I defended myself. And when I turned on her, I gave her no opening at all before I overcame her.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'She is indeed the daughter of Abu Bakr.'"She also said that the wives of the Prophet ﷺ sent Zaynab, and she asked permission and he gave her permission, and she came in and said something similar. Muamar differed from those two, reporting it from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha.

أخبرني عمران بن بكار الحمصي قال حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أنبأنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن الحارث بن هشام أن عائشة قالت فذكرت نحوه وقالت أرسل أزواج النبي ﷺ زينب فاستأذنت فأذن لها فدخلت فقالت نحوه خالفهما معمر رواه عن الزهري عن عروة عن عائشة
