When Zaynab's waiting period had ended, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Zayd, "Mention me to her."Zayd said, "So I went and said, 'Zaynab, rejoice. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me to you to mention you.'"She replied, "I will do nothing until I consult my Lord."She rose and went to her place of prayer, and the Quran was revealed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then came and entered upon her without permission.
أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال أنبأنا عبد الله قال حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة عن ثابت
لما انقضت عدة زينب قال رسول الله ﷺ لزيد اذكرها علي قال زيد فانطلقت فقلت يا زينب أبشري أرسلني إليك رسول الله ﷺ يذكرك فقالت ما أنا بصانعة شيئا حتى أستأمر ربي فقامت إلى مسجدها ونزل القرآن وجاء رسول الله ﷺ فدخل بغير أمر
Muslim narrated it, in the Book of Marriage, chapter on the marriage of Zaynab bint Jahsh and the revelation of the hijab and establishing the wedding banquet, hadith no. 1428, from the hadith of Sulayman bin Mughira through this same chain. Abdullah is Ibn Mubarak.
