I used to feel jealous of the women who offered themselves to the Prophet ﷺ, and I would say, "Does a free woman really offer herself?" Then Allah revealed, "You may defer whom you will of them and take to yourself whom you will" [Ahzab 33:51].I said, "By Allah, I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desires."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tafsir, chapter on His saying, "You may delay whichever of them you will" [Ahzab 33:51]... etc, no. 4788, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Breastfeeding, chapter on the permissibility of a woman giving her turn to her co-wife, no. 1464, from the hadith of Abu Usama, with the same wording. It is also in Kubra, no. 5306.
