The Prophet ﷺ then said something to the effect of, "Bring me the shoulder blade and the tablet." He then wrote, "Not equal are those believers who sit at home" [Nisa 4:95], while Amr bin Umm Maktum was behind him.Amr asked, "Is there any concession for me?"Then the words "other than those with a disability" [Nisa 4:95] were revealed.
أخبرنا نصر بن علي قال حدثنا معتمر عن أبيه عن أبي إسحق
أن النبي ﷺ ثم ذكر كلمة معناها قال ائتوني بالكتف واللوح فكتب {لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين} وعمرو بن أم مكتوم خلفه فقال هل لي رخصة فنزلت {غير أولي الضرر}
[Sahih]Tirmidhi narrated it in jihad, the chapter on those excused from staying behind, hadith no. 1670, from Nasr bin Ali Jahdami, with this wording, and he said, hasan sahih. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 4310.Bukhari narrated it, hadith nos. 2831, 4593, 4990, 454, and Muslim, hadith no. 141/1898, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq with this wording. Mutamir bin Sulayman Taymi explicitly stated that he heard it directly.
