Zayd bin Thabit reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ received the revelation, "Not equal are those believers who sit at home" and "those who strive in the cause of Allah" [Nisa 4:95]. He was dictating it to me when Ibn Umm Maktum came and said, "Messenger of Allah, if I were able to perform jihad, I would do so." Then Allah sent down further revelation while his thigh was resting on mine, and it grew so heavy upon me that I thought my thigh would be crushed. Then the state lifted from him, and the words "except those who are disabled" [Nisa 4:95] were revealed.Abu Abdul-Rahman said, "This Abdul-Rahman bin Ishaq is reliable. But the Abdul-Rahman bin Ishaq from whom Ali bin Mushir, Abu Muawiya, and Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad narrate, who reports from Numan bin Saad, is not trustworthy."

أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن بزيع قال حدثنا بشر يعني ابن المفضل قال أنبأنا عبد الرحمن بن إسحق عن الزهري عن سهل بن سعد قال رأيت مروان بن الحكم جالسا فجئت حتى جلست إليه فحدثنا أن

أن رسول الله ﷺ أنزل عليه {لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين} {والمجاهدون في سبيل الله} فجاء ابن أم مكتوم وهو يملها علي فقال يا رسول الله لو أستطيع الجهاد لجاهدت فأنزل الله عز وجل وفخذه على فخذي فثقلت علي حتى ظننت أن سترض فخذي ثم سري عنه {غير أولي الضرر} قال أبو عبد الرحمن عبد الرحمن بن إسحق هذا ليس به بأس وعبد الرحمن بن إسحق يروي عنه علي بن مسهر وأبو معاوية وعبد الواحد بن زياد عن النعمان بن سعد ليس بثقة
