He had been riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the evening of Arafa. I asked him, "What did you do?"He replied, "We came along riding until we reached Muzdalifa. He made his camel kneel and prayed Maghrib, then he sent word to the people, who made their camels kneel at their camping places. They did not unsaddle them until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had prayed Isha, then the people unsaddled and dismounted. When morning came, I set off on foot among the front-runners of Quraysh, while Fadl rode behind him."
أخبرنا محمد بن حاتم قال أنبأنا حبان قال أنبأنا عبد الله عن إبراهيم بن عقبة أن كريبا قال
وكان ردف رسول الله ﷺ عشية عرفة فقلت كيف فعلتم قال أقبلنا نسير حتى بلغنا المزدلفة فأناخ فصلى المغرب ثم بعث إلى القوم فأناخوا في منازلهم فلم يحلوا حتى صلى رسول الله ﷺ العشاء الآخرة ثم حل الناس فنزلوا فلما أصبحنا انطلقت على رجلي في سباق قريش وردفه الفضل
