The Messenger of Allah ﷺ departed from Arafah with me riding behind him. He kept reining in his mount so tightly that the back of its neck nearly touched the front of the saddle, and he was saying, "People, hold to calmness and dignity, for righteousness is not found in driving camels hard."
أخبرنا إبراهيم بن يونس بن محمد قال حدثنا أبي قال حدثنا حماد عن قيس بن سعد عن عطاء عن ابن عباس أن
أفاض رسول الله ﷺ من عرفة وأنا رديفه فجعل يكبح راحلته حتى أن ذفراها ليكاد يصيب قادمة الرحل وهو يقول يا أيها الناس عليكم بالسكينة والوقار فإن البر ليس في إيضاع الإبل
[Its isnad is sahih] Ahmad reported it in 5/201, 207 from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, and it is in al-Kubra, no. 4014. Muslim also reported it, no. 1286, from the hadith of Ata bin Abu Rabah, and Bukhari, no. 1543, from the hadith of Ibn Abbas by the same route.
