The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us holding something shaped like a small shield. He set it down, then sat behind it and urinated toward it.One of the people remarked, "Look at him, he urinates the way a woman urinates."He heard the comment and said, "Do you not know what happened to that man among the Children of Israil? Whenever any urine got on them, they would cut it out with scissors. Their companion forbade them from doing that, and so he was punished in his grave."
[Its chain is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Purification, Chapter on Being Strict Concerning Urine, hadith no. (346), no. (22), from the hadith of Abu Muawiya, and Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Purification, Chapter on Cleansing after Urination, no. (26). Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (al-Ihsan 3117), as did Hakim (1/184), from the hadith of Amash with the same wording, and it is also found in al-Kubra. Dhahabi, Ibn Hajar, and Daraqutni (Fath 1/328) and others agreed with this.Sulayman Amash is trustworthy, a hafiz, knowledgeable in recitation, and scrupulous, but he practices tadlis (Taqrib al-Tahdhib, p. 210), and I did not find an explicit statement that he heard it directly. The substance of the hadith, however, has a corroborating witness in Bukhari and elsewhere].
