I used to braid the garlands for the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ sacrificial animals, and the animals would be sent out garlanded while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained behind, not abstaining from his wives.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن أبي إسحق عن الأسود
إن كنت لأفتل قلائد هدي رسول الله ﷺ ويخرج بالهدي مقلدا ورسول الله ﷺ مقيم ما يمتنع من نسائه
[Sahih] Ahmad reported it in 6/102, 218, 236 from the hadith of Abu Ishaq through him, and it is in Kubra, hadith 3778. The hadith has corroborating witnesses, among them the hadith that follows.
