The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send sacrificial animals from Medina. I would twist the garlands for his offerings, yet he would not avoid any of the things that a person in the state of ihram avoids.
Muslim narrated it in Hajj, in the chapter on the recommendation of sending the sacrificial animal to the Sanctuary, etc., hadith no. 1321, from Qutayba. Bukhari narrated it in Hajj, in the chapter on plaiting collars for camels and cattle, hadith no. 1998, from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, through the same chain. It is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 3756.
