A man from Khathaam came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "My father is a very old man who cannot ride, and Allah's obligation of Hajj has reached him. Will it suffice if I perform Hajj on his behalf?"The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Are you his eldest son?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tell me, if your father had a debt, would you pay it off for him?"He answered, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال أنبأنا جرير عن منصور عن مجاهد عن يوسف بن الزبير
جاء رجل من خثعم إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال إن أبي شيخ كبير لا يستطيع الركوب وأدركته فريضة الله في الحج فهل يجزئ أن أحج عنه قال آنت أكبر ولده قال نعم قال أرأيت لو كان عليه دين أكنت تقضيه قال نعم قال فحج عنه
Sourcing, [Its chain of transmission is daif] Ahmad narrated it, 5/4, from Jareer bin Abdul-Hameed, through him, and it is in Kubra, hadith: 3618. Yusuf bin Zubayr was not deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban, but the substance of the hadith is sahih, see the preceding and following hadith.
