The Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed Itaab bin Usayd to estimate the yield of grapes so that their zakat could be paid as raisins, just as the zakat of date palms is paid as dried dates.
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا بشر ويزيد قالا حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن إسحق عن الزهري
أن رسول الله ﷺ أمر عتاب بن أسيد أن يخرص العنب فتؤدى زكاته زبيبا كما تؤدى زكاة النخل تمرا
[Its chain is daif due to being disconnected] Abu Dawud narrated it, no. 1603, from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Ishaq Madani, from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Itaab bin Usayd, with this wording, and he said, "Saeed did not hear anything from Itaab." Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, 2317, as did Ibn Hibban, nos. 800 and 799. Munziri said, "Its disconnection is evident, because Saeed was born during the caliphate of Umar, while Itaab died on the day Abu Bakr died."
