Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

Ali, while he was in Yemen, sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some gold still mixed with its earth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided it among four men, Aqra bin Habis al-Hanzali, Uyayna bin Badr al-Fazari, Alqama bin Ulatha al-Amiri, of the tribe of Banu Kilab, and Zayd al-Tai, of the tribe of Banu Nabhan.The Quraysh became angry, and on another occasion he said, "the chiefs of Quraysh." They said, "You give to the chiefs of Najd and leave us out?"He replied, "I did that only to win their hearts."Then a man with a thick beard, prominent cheekbones, sunken eyes, a bulging forehead, and a shaved head came forward and said, "Fear Allah, Muhammad."He answered, "Who would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? He entrusts me with the people of the earth, yet you do not trust me?"The man then turned away, and one of the people, said to be Khalid bin Walid, asked permission to kill him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "From the offspring of this man will come a people who recite the Quran but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will kill the people of Islam and leave the idolaters alone. They will pass through Islam as an arrow passes through its prey. If I were to live to see them, I would surely kill them as the people of Aad were killed."

أخبرنا هناد بن السري عن أبي الأحوص عن سعيد بن مسروق عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نعم

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

بعث علي وهو باليمن بذهيبة بتربتها إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقسمها رسول الله ﷺ بين أربعة نفر الأقرع بن حابس الحنظلي وعيينة بن بدر الفزاري وعلقمة بن علاثة العامري ثم أحد بني كلاب وزيد الطائي ثم أحد بني نبهان فغضبت قريش وقال مرة أخرى صناديد قريش فقالوا تعطي صناديد نجد وتدعنا قال إنما فعلت ذلك لأتألفهم فجاء رجل كث اللحية مشرف الوجنتين غائر العينين ناتئ الجبين محلوق الرأس فقال اتق الله يا محمد قال فمن يطيع الله عز وجل إن عصيته أيأمنني على أهل الأرض ولا تأمنوني ثم أدبر الرجل فاستأذن رجل من القوم في قتله يرون أنه خالد بن الوليد فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن من ضئضئ هذا قوما يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز حناجرهم يقتلون أهل الإسلام ويدعون أهل الأوثان يمرقون من الإسلام كما يمرق السهم من الرمية لئن أدركتهم لأقتلنهم قتل عاد
