The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to Yemen and instructed him to collect from every adult one Dinar or its equivalent in Maafir cloth, and from cattle, one tabi or tabia for every thirty head, and one musinna for every forty.
أخبرنا محمد بن رافع قال حدثنا يحيى بن آدم قال حدثنا مفضل وهو ابن مهلهل عن الأعمش عن شقيق عن مسروق
أن رسول الله ﷺ بعثه إلى اليمن وأمره أن يأخذ من كل حالم دينارا أو عدله معافر ومن البقر من ثلاثين تبيعا أو تبيعة ومن كل أربعين مسنة
Its isnad is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Zakat, chapter on the zakat of grazing livestock, no. 1578, Tirmidhi in the Book of Zakat, chapter on what has been said regarding the zakat of cattle, no. 623, and Ibn Majah in the Book of Zakat, chapter on the charity of cattle, no. 1803, all from the hadith of Amash through this chain.Abu Dawud said, "Shubah narrated it from Amash through this chain." It is also found in al-Kubra, no. 2230. Ibn Khuzayma, Ibn Hibban, Hakim, and Dhahabi, among others, graded it sahih.The hadith has two daif corroborating narrations found with Bayhaqi and Abu Yaala, among others.
