The Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled during Ramadan and fasted until he reached Usfan. Then he called for a vessel and drank from it during the day in full view of the people, and so he broke his fast.
أخبرنا محمد بن قدامة عن جرير عن منصور عن مجاهد عن طاوس
سافر رسول الله ﷺ في رمضان فصام حتى بلغ عسفان ثم دعا بإناء فشرب نهارا يراه الناس ثم أفطر
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions, chapter on the Conquest of Makkah in Ramadan, h: 4279, and Muslim in the Book of Fasting, chapter on the permissibility of fasting and breaking the fast in the month of Ramadan for the traveler... etc, h: 1113, from the hadith of Jareer bin Abdul-Hameed, through this route.
