The Prophet ﷺ was brought some food at Marr al-Zahran, so he said to Abu Bakr and Umar, "Come closer and eat."They replied, "We are fasting."He said, "Saddle the mounts for your companions. Work for your companions."
أخبرنا هارون بن عبد الله وعبد الرحمن بن محمد بن سلام قالا حدثنا أبو داود عن سفيان عن الأوزاعي عن يحيى عن أبي سلمة
أتي النبي ﷺ بطعام بمر الظهران فقال لأبي بكر وعمر أدنيا فكلا فقالا إنا صائمان فقال ارحلوا لصاحبيكم اعملوا لصاحبيكم
[Its chain is daif] Ahmad narrated it (2/336) from Abu Dawud Umar bin Saad al-Hadari, through this chain. He alone narrated it, as Bayhaqi said (4/246), and it is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 2572. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 911, and Hakim did as well, based on the criteria of the two Shaykhs (1/433), and Dhahabi agreed with him. But the correct view is that it is mursal, see the hadith that follows. Sufyan here is Thawri, mentioned earlier, hadith no. 1027. I did not find an explicit statement that he heard it directly.
