The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man who had been shaded while traveling. He said, "Fasting while traveling is not an act of righteousness."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد وخالد بن الحارث عن شعبة عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن عن محمد بن عمرو بن حسن
أن رسول الله ﷺ رأى رجلا قد ظلل عليه في السفر فقال ليس من البر الصيام في السفر
Bukhari, Fasting, chapter on the saying of the Prophet, "There is no [reward] except from Allah, and for whoever gets shaded," etc., hadith 1946, and Muslim, Fasting, chapter on the permissibility of fasting and not fasting during the month of Ramadan for a traveler when not committing a sin, etc., which is hadith 1115, from the hadith of Shubah through this route, and it is in Kubra, hadith 2570, and Nasai said, "This hadith of Shubah is the sahih one."
