Someone asked Aisha, "At what part of the night did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform his bath?"She replied, "Sometimes he bathed at the beginning of the night, and sometimes at the end of it."He said, "Praise be to Allah, who has made the matter spacious."
أخبرنا عمرو بن هشام قال حدثنا مخلد عن سفيان عن أبي العلاء عن عبادة بن نسي عن غضيف بن الحارث أنه سأل
أي الليل كان يغتسل رسول الله ﷺ قالت ربما اغتسل أول الليل وربما اغتسل آخره قلت الحمد لله الذي جعل في الأمر سعة
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in the book of Purification, chapter on a person in a state of major impurity delaying ghusl, hadith no. 226, and Ibn Majah narrated it in the book of Establishing the Prayers, chapter on what has been reported about recitation in the night prayer, hadith no. 1354, from the hadith of Abu Ala Barad bin Sinan, with the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 227.
