The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not fast more in any month of the year than he did in Shaban. He used to fast all of Shaban.
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال أنبأنا معاذ بن هشام قال حدثني أبي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير قال حدثني أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
لم يكن رسول الله ﷺ في شهر من السنة أكثر صياما منه في شعبان كان يصوم شعبان كله
Muslim narrated it, hadith 782, after hadith 1156, from Ishaq bin Ibrahim (see the previous hadith), and Bukhari, in the Book of Fasting, chapter on fasting in Shaban, hadith 1970, from the hadith of Hisham Dastawai, through the same chain, and it is in Kubra, hadith 2490.
