The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to join Shaban with Ramadan.

[Its isnad is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in Sawm, chapter on one who joins Shaban to Ramadan, hadith no. 2336, from the hadith of Shubah through this route, and it is in al-Kubra, hadith no. 2486.Nadr is Ibn Shumayl.
