Abdullah bin Abbas reported,
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Jibreel 
came to me and said, 'The month is twenty-nine days.'"

[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Ahmad narrated it: 1/218, 340, from the hadith of Shubah, from Salama bin Kuhayl, from Abu Hakam Imran bin Harith, in this manner. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 2443, and it is an abridged hadith.
