Fatimah bint Abu Hubaysh came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I am a woman who suffers from continuous bleeding and never becomes pure. Should I abandon the prayer?"He replied, "No, that is only a vein, not menstruation. When your menstrual period begins, leave the prayer, and when it ends, wash the blood from yourself and pray."
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال أخبرنا عبدة ووكيع وأبو معاوية قالوا حدثنا هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
جاءت فاطمة بنت أبي حبيش إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالت إني امرأة أستحاض فلا أطهر أفأدع الصلاة قال لا إنما ذلك عرق وليس بالحيضة فإذا أقبلت الحيضة فدعي الصلاة وإذا أدبرت فاغسلي عنك الدم وصلي
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of wudu, chapter on washing off blood, hadith 228, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Menstruation, chapter on the woman with abnormal bleeding, her ritual washing and prayer, hadith 333, from the hadith of Waki, from Hisham, with the same wording. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith 217.
