Abdullah bin Umar reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you dies, his place is shown to him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, then from the people of Paradise, and if he is among the people of the Fire, then from the people of the Fire, until Allah عز وجل resurrects him on the Day of Judgment."

أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا الليث عن نافع

عن ابن عمر

أن النبي ﷺ قال ألا إن أحدكم إذا مات عرض عليه مقعده بالغداة والعشي إن كان من أهل الجنة فمن أهل الجنة وإن كان من أهل النار فمن أهل النار حتى يبعثه الله عز وجل يوم القيامة

Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Beginning of Creation, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding the Description of Paradise and That It Is Already Created, hadith no. 3240, from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, and Muslim in the Book of Paradise and Its Delights, Chapter on the Deceased Being Shown His Place in Paradise or Hell etc., hadith no. 2866, from the hadith of Nafi through him, and it is in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 2197.
