A Jewish woman came in to see her and asked her for something. Ayesha gave her a gift, and the woman said, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave."Ayesha said, "This troubled me, so when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, I mentioned it to him."He said, "They are indeed punished in their graves with a punishment that the animals can hear."
Bukhari narrated it, in the Book of Supplications, Chapter on Seeking Refuge from the Punishment of the Grave, hadith no. 6366, and Muslim, hadith no. 586, from the hadith of Shaqiq, with the same wording, and it is also in the Book of Mosques, Chapter on the Recommendation of Seeking Refuge from the Punishment of the Grave, the greater, hadith no. 2193.
