The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out after the sun had set and heard a sound, so he said, "The Jews are being tormented in their graves."
أخبرنا عبيد الله بن سعيد قال حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة قال أخبرني عون بن أبي جحيفة عن أبيه عن البراء بن عازب
خرج رسول الله ﷺ بعد ما غربت الشمس فسمع صوتا فقال يهود تعذب في قبورها
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on funerals, section on seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave, hadith no. 1375, and Muslim in the chapter on Paradise etc., section on the presentation of the deceased's abode from Paradise or Hellfire to him, hadith no. 2869, from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed Qattan, via this route. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 2186.
