The wounds were severe on the day of Uhud, and this was complained of to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Dig the graves, make them wide, make them well, bury two or three in a single grave, and place the one who knew the most Quran in front."
أخبرني إبراهيم بن يعقوب قال أنبأنا سليمان بن حرب قال حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب عن حميد بن هلال
اشتد الجراح يوم أحد فشكي ذلك إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال احفروا وأوسعوا وأحسنوا وادفنوا في القبر الاثنين والثلاثة وقدموا أكثرهم قرآنا
