The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your brother has died, so stand and pray over him." So we formed two rows for the prayer over him.
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال أنبأنا إسمعيل عن أيوب عن أبي الزبير
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن أخاكم قد مات فقوموا فصلوا عليه فصففنا عليه صفين
Reported by Muslim, in the chapter on funerals, section on takbir over the funeral prayer, hadith no. 66/952, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, through the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 2100.
