Shaddad bin Had reported,

A bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ, believed in him, and followed him. Then he said, "Shall I emigrate with you?"So the Prophet ﷺ entrusted him to the care of some of his companions. When a battle took place, the Prophet ﷺ gained captives as spoils and distributed them, allotting a share to this man as well. He gave his share to his companions, since he had been tending to their riding animals. When he came back, they handed it over to him.He asked, "What is this?"They replied, "A share the Prophet ﷺ allotted to you."He took it and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "What is this?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "I allotted it to you."He said, "It was not for this that I followed you. Rather, I followed you so that I might be struck here," and he pointed to his throat, "with an arrow, then die and enter Paradise."The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you are truthful with Allah, He will be truthful with you."They waited a short while, then they rose to fight the enemy. He was brought to the Prophet ﷺ being carried, having been struck by an arrow exactly where he had pointed.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Is it him?"They said, "Yes."He said, "He was truthful with Allah, so Allah was truthful with him."Then the Prophet ﷺ shrouded him in his own cloak, brought him forward, and prayed over him. Among what was heard of his prayer was, "O Allah, this is Your servant who went out as an emigrant in Your path and was killed as a martyr. I bear witness to that."

أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال أنبأنا عبد الله عن ابن جريج قال أخبرني عكرمة بن خالد أن ابن أبي عمار أخبره

عن شداد بن الهاد

أن رجلا من الأعراب جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فآمن به واتبعه ثم قال أهاجر معك فأوصى به النبي ﷺ بعض أصحابه فلما كانت غزوة غنم النبي ﷺ سبيا فقسم وقسم له فأعطى أصحابه ما قسم له وكان يرعى ظهرهم فلما جاء دفعوه إليه فقال ما هذا قالوا قسم قسمه لك النبي ﷺ فأخذه فجاء به إلى النبي ﷺ فقال ما هذا قال قسمته لك قال ما على هذا اتبعتك ولكني اتبعتك على أن أرمى إلى هاهنا وأشار إلى حلقه بسهم فأموت فأدخل الجنة فقال إن تصدق الله يصدقك فلبثوا قليلا ثم نهضوا في قتال العدو فأتي به النبي ﷺ يحمل قد أصابه سهم حيث أشار فقال النبي ﷺ أهو هو قالوا نعم قال صدق الله فصدقه ثم كفنه النبي ﷺ في جبة النبي ﷺ ثم قدمه فصلى عليه فكان فيما ظهر من صلاته اللهم هذا عبدك خرج مهاجرا في سبيلك فقتل شهيدا أنا شهيد على ذلك
