The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Do not be like so-and-so. He used to pray during the night, then he abandoned praying at night."
أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال حدثنا عبد الله عن الأوزاعي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة
قال لي رسول الله ﷺ لا تكن مثل فلان كان يقوم الليل فترك قيام الليل
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tahajjud, chapter on the dislike of abandoning night prayer for one who used to perform it, hadith no. 1152, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Mubarak. And Muslim narrated it in the Book of Fasting, chapter on the prohibition of fasting continuously for one who is harmed by it and so on, hadith no. 182/1159, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, with the same chain.
