The Prophet ﷺ would never omit four rakats before Zuhr and two rakats before Fajr.Most of Shuba's companions who narrated this hadith differed from him and did not mention Masruq.
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى قال حدثنا عثمان بن عمر قال حدثنا شعبة عن إبراهيم بن محمد عن أبيه عن مسروق
أن النبي ﷺ كان لا يدع أربع ركعات قبل الظهر وركعتين قبل الفجر خالفه عامة أصحاب شعبة ممن روى هذا الحديث فلم يذكروا مسروقا
[Sahih] It is in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 1450, see also the following hadith. Nasai said, "No one has corroborated him in this hadith regarding his saying, from Masruq."
