The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the witr prayer with five or seven units, not separating them with a salutation or any speech.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن الحكم عن مقسم
كان رسول الله ﷺ يوتر بخمس وبسبع لا يفصل بينها بسلام ولا بكلام
[Sahih] Reported by Ibn Majah, Establishment of Prayers, Chapter on What Has Been Said About Witr with Three, Five, Seven, and Nine, hadith 1192, from the hadith of Mansur through him, and it is also found in Kubra, hadith 1403.Hakam bin Utayba used an ambiguous form of transmission (anana), and he was a mudallis, as Nasai stated in Siyar Aalam Nubala, 7/74. This hadith has many corroborating narrations, see Tasheel Al-Haajah and others.
