He was in the mosque of Amr bin Shurahbil when the prayer was called. The people began waiting for him, and when he arrived he said, "I was performing the witr prayer."Abdullah was asked, "Is there witr after the call to prayer?"He replied, "Yes, even after the iqamah."He also reported from the Prophet ﷺ that he once slept past the time of prayer until the sun had risen, then he prayed.
أخبرنا يحيى بن حكيم قال حدثنا ابن أبي عدي
أنه كان في مسجد عمرو بن شرحبيل فأقيمت الصلاة فجعلوا ينتظرونه فجاء فقال إني كنت أوتر قال وسئل عبد الله هل بعد الأذان وتر قال نعم وبعد الإقامة وحدث عن النبي ﷺ أنه نام عن الصلاة حتى طلعت الشمس ثم صلى
