I bear witness that I attended the Eid with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He began with the prayer before the sermon, then he delivered the sermon.
أخبرنا محمد بن منصور قال حدثنا سفيان قال سمعت أيوب يخبر عن عطاء قال سمعت
أشهد أني شهدت العيد مع رسول الله ﷺ فبدأ بالصلاة قبل الخطبة ثم خطب
Muslim reported it in the Book of the Two Eid Prayers, Chapter on the Prayer of the Two Eids, no. 2/884, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, and Bukhari in the Book of Zakat, Chapter on giving goods in zakat, no. 1449, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani with the same wording, and it is in Al-Kubra, no. 1778.
