By one of the pillars of the mosque, he said, the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice and said, "The first thing we begin with on this day of ours is to pray, then to slaughter. Whoever does that has followed our practice, and whoever slaughtered before that, it is merely meat he has presented to his family."Abu Burda bin Dinar had already slaughtered, so he said, "Messenger of Allah, I have a young goat that is better than a mature one."He replied, "Slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."
أخبرنا محمد بن عثمان قال حدثنا بهز قال حدثنا شعبة قال أخبرني زبيد قال سمعت الشعبي يقول
عند سارية من سواري المسجد قال خطب النبي ﷺ يوم النحر فقال إن أول ما نبدأ به في يومنا هذا أن نصلي ثم نذبح فمن فعل ذلك فقد أصاب سنتنا ومن ذبح قبل ذلك فإنما هو لحم يقدمه لأهله فذبح أبو بردة بن دينار فقال يا رسول الله عندي جذعة خير من مسنة قال اذبحها ولن توفي عن أحد بعدك
Bukhari, Eidayn, chapter on the sunnah of the two Eids for the people of Islam, no. 951, and Muslim, Adahi, chapter on its time, 7/1961, narrated it from the hadith of Shubah in this way, and it is in Kubra, no. 1764.
