Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed. He prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, then rose and prolonged it.Shuba said, "I think he said the same regarding the prostration."He began to weep during his prostration and to blow, saying, "My Lord, You did not promise me this while I am still seeking Your forgiveness. You did not promise me this while I am still among them."When he had finished the prayer, he said, "Paradise was shown to me, so close that had I stretched out my hand I could have plucked some of its fruits. And the Fire was shown to me, so I began to blow, fearing its heat would overwhelm you. I saw in it the man who stole the sacrificial camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I saw in it the brother of Banu Dadaa, the one who used to rob the pilgrims. Whenever he was caught, he would say, 'This is the work of the hooked staff.' And I saw in it a tall, black woman being punished because of a cat she had tied up, neither feeding it nor giving it water nor letting it loose to eat from the creatures of the earth, until it died. The sun and the moon are not eclipsed for anyone's death or life, but they are two signs among the signs of Allah. So when one of them is eclipsed," or he said, "when one of them does something of that sort, hasten to the remembrance of Allah عز وجل."
