A Jewish woman came to me asking for charity, and she said, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came home, I said, "Messenger of Allah, are people punished in their graves?"He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from that."Then he mounted a riding animal, and the sun became eclipsed. I was among some women between the houses, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came back from his ride and went to his place of prayer and led the people in prayer. He stood for a long time, then bowed for a long time, then raised his head and stood for a long time, then bowed for a long time, then raised his head and stood for a long time, then prostrated for a long time. Then he stood again, but for a shorter time than his first standing, then bowed for a shorter time than his first bowing, then raised his head and stood for a shorter time than his first standing, then bowed for a shorter time than his first bowing, then raised his head and stood for a shorter time than his first standing. So it was four bowings and four prostrations, and the sun became clear. Then he said, "You will be tested in your graves like the trial of the Dajjal."Ayesha said, "After that I heard him seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave."
