The sun was eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered an announcer to call out, "The prayer is to be held in congregation." The people gathered and lined up in rows, and he led them in four bowings within two units of prayer, with four prostrations.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Eclipse, in the section on reciting aloud in the eclipse prayer, Hadith 1066 and 1065, and Muslim in the chapter on Eclipse, in the section on the eclipse prayer, Hadith 4/901, from the hadith of Walid bin Muslim in this manner. It is also found in Kubra, Hadith 1849.
