Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "We are the last yet the foremost, even though they were given the Scripture before us and we were given it after them. This is the day which Allah prescribed for them, but they differed concerning it, and Allah guided us to it," meaning Friday. "So the people follow us in this regard. The Jews observe it tomorrow, and the Christians the day after."
