I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ counting the tasbih on his fingers.
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الأعلى الصنعاني والحسين بن محمد الذارع واللفظ له قالا حدثنا عثام بن علي قال حدثنا الأعمش عن عطاء بن السائب عن أبيه

Sahih. Reported by Tirmidhi, Book of Supplications, chapter on the virtue of tasbih and tahmid etc., no. 3411, from Muhammad bin Abdul-Ala with this chain, and he said, Hasan gharib. It is also in Kubra, no. 1278. Shuba also narrated it, found in Hakim, 1/547 and elsewhere, and Dhahabi said, Sahih. It is in Nayl Maqsud, no. 1502.
