Whenever we prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ, we would say, "Peace be upon you, peace be upon you," and Masaar gestured with his hand to his right and to his left.The Prophet ﷺ said, "What is wrong with these people who flick their hands as though they were the tails of restless horses? Is it not enough for one of you to place his hand on his thigh and then give the greeting of peace to his brother on his right and on his left?"
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا أبو نعيم عن مسعر عن عبيد الله ابن القبطية قال سمعت
كنا إذا صلينا خلف النبي ﷺ قلنا السلام عليكم السلام عليكم وأشار مسعر بيده عن يمينه وعن شماله فقال ما بال هؤلاء الذين يرمون بأيديهم كأنها أذناب الخيل الشمس أما يكفي أن يضع يده على فخذه ثم يسلم على أخيه عن يمينه وعن شماله
