The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard a man making supplication during his prayer without glorifying Allah or sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have been hasty, worshipper." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught them.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard another man praying who glorified Allah, praised Him, and sent blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Call upon Allah and you will be answered, ask and you will be given."
أخبرنا محمد بن سلمة قال حدثنا ابن وهب عن أبي هانئ أن أبا علي الجنبي حدثه أنه سمع
سمع رسول الله ﷺ رجلا يدعو في صلاته لم يمجد الله ولم يصل على النبي ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ عجلت أيها المصلي ثم علمهم رسول الله ﷺ وسمع رسول الله ﷺ رجلا يصلي فمجد الله وحمده وصلى على النبي ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ ادع تجب وسل تعط

[Its chain is sahih] Recorded by Abu Dawud, Prayer, chapter on supplication, no. 1481, and Tirmidhi, Supplications [chapter on the obligation of supplication preceded by praise and glorification... etc.], no. 3476, from the hadith of Humayd bin Hani Abu Hani, and Tirmidhi said, "Hasan," and it is in Kubra, no. 1207, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 709, 710, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 510, and Hakim, 1/230, 268, and Dhahabi.
