The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands when he began the prayer, when he intended to bow, when he raised his head from bowing, and when he stood up after the first two units. He would raise them in the same manner, level with his shoulders.
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الأعلى الصنعاني قال حدثنا المعتمر قال سمعت عبيد الله وهو ابن عمر عن ابن شهاب عن سالم
عن النبي ﷺ أنه كان يرفع يديه إذا دخل في الصلاة وإذا أراد أن يركع وإذا رفع رأسه من الركوع وإذا قام من الركعتين يرفع يديه كذلك حذو المنكبين
Sahih. Abdul-Razzaq narrated it in Musannaf, 2/67, and Bukhari in Juz Rafi al-Yadayn, 77, from the hadith of Mutamir bin Sulayman with this wording, and it is also in Kubra, hadith 1105. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in Ihsan, 3/260, 270, as did Abu Awana, 2/91. Its basic content is agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim, as mentioned earlier at hadith 879 and elsewhere.
