"Shall I not tell you about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He then stood up and raised his hands the first time, and did not do so again.

Its chain of transmission is daif.Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on whoever did not mention raising the hands at ruku, no. 751, 748, and Tirmidhi in the Book of Prayer, chapter on what has been narrated that the Prophet ﷺ did not raise his hands except the first time, no. 257, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, with this wording, and he said, "hasan." Ibn Hazm graded it sahih. It is also found in Kubra, no. 1099.Shafii, Bukhari, Abu Hatim, and others graded it daif. It contains defects that undermine it, one of them being Sufyan Thawri's use of "an" in his transmission, since he was a mudallis, as Yahya Qattan, Ibn Mubarak, and others have stated.I have not found any solid argument from those who graded it sahih. A daif hadith should not be strengthened contrary to the established principles of hadith, so let this be noted.
