Its isnad is sahih. Ahmad narrated it: 2/369, from the hadith of Ibn Shihab through the same route, and it is in Kubra, hadith no. 1092. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in Ihsan, hadith no. 7152. It has another route in Ibn Majah, hadith no. 1341, and elsewhere, and its isnad is hasan.
