Jabir bin Samura reported,

I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and whenever we gave the salam, we would gesture with our hands, saying, "Peace be upon you, peace be upon you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at us and said, "What is the matter with you, gesturing with your hands as if they were the tails of restless horses? When one of you gives the salam, let him turn to his companion and not signal with his hand."
