Abu Hurayra, when Marwan would appoint him as his deputy over Madinah, used to say the takbir whenever he stood for the obligatory prayer. He then mentioned a hadith similar to that of Ibn Jurayj. In his version it adds, when he had completed the prayer and given the salam, he would turn to face the people in the mosque and say, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, my prayer most closely resembles the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among you all."
و حدثني حرملة بن يحيى أخبرنا ابن وهب أخبرني يونس عن ابن شهاب أخبرني
أن أبا هريرة كان حين يستخلفه مروان على المدينة إذا قام للصلاة المكتوبة كبر فذكر نحو حديث ابن جريج وفي حديثه فإذا قضاها وسلم أقبل على أهل المسجد قال والذي نفسي بيده إني لأشبهكم صلاة برسول الله ﷺ
