The Prophet ﷺ met him on one of the roads of Madinah while he was in a state of major ritual impurity. He slipped away, went and bathed. The Prophet ﷺ noticed his absence, and when he came back, he asked, "Where were you, Abu Hurayrah?"He replied, "Messenger of Allah, you met me while I was in a state of major ritual impurity, and I disliked sitting with you until I had bathed."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Glory be to Allah! The believer is never impure."
حدثني زهير بن حرب حدثنا يحيى يعني ابن سعيد قال حميد حدثنا ح و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة واللفظ له حدثنا إسمعيل ابن علية عن حميد الطويل قال حدثنا بكر بن عبد الله عن أبي رافع
أنه لقيه النبي ﷺ في طريق من طرق المدينة وهو جنب فانسل فذهب فاغتسل فتفقده النبي ﷺ فلما جاءه قال أين كنت يا أبا هريرة قال يا رسول الله لقيتني وأنا جنب فكرهت أن أجالسك حتى أغتسل فقال رسول الله ﷺ سبحان الله إن المؤمن لا ينجس
