We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys, and when we reached Bayda, or Dhat al-Jaysh, a necklace of mine broke and was lost. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ halted to search for it, and the people halted with him. They were not near any water, nor did they have any water with them.The people came to Abu Bakr and said, "Do you not see what Ayesha has done? She has caused the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people with him to halt, and they are not near water, nor do they have any water with them."Abu Bakr came in while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sleeping with his head on my thigh. He said, "You have detained the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people, and they are not near water, nor do they have any water with them."Ayesha said, Abu Bakr rebuked me and said whatever Allah willed him to say, and he began poking me in my side with his hand. Nothing kept me from moving except the position of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ resting on my thigh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until morning came, with no water available, so Allah revealed the verse of tayammum, and they performed tayammum.Usayd bin Hudayr, who was one of the chiefs, said, "This is not the first blessing you have brought, family of Abu Bakr."Ayesha said, We then made the camel I had been riding get up, and we found the necklace beneath it.
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى قال قرأت على مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه
خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في بعض أسفاره حتى إذا كنا بالبيداء أو بذات الجيش انقطع عقد لي فأقام رسول الله ﷺ على التماسه وأقام الناس معه وليسوا على ماء وليس معهم ماء فأتى الناس إلى أبي بكر فقالوا ألا ترى إلى ما صنعت عائشة أقامت برسول الله ﷺ وبالناس معه وليسوا على ماء وليس معهم ماء فجاء أبو بكر ورسول الله ﷺ واضع رأسه على فخذي قد نام فقال حبست رسول الله ﷺ والناس وليسوا على ماء وليس معهم ماء قالت فعاتبني أبو بكر وقال ما شاء الله أن يقول وجعل يطعن بيده في خاصرتي فلا يمنعني من التحرك إلا مكان رسول الله ﷺ على فخذي فنام رسول الله ﷺ حتى أصبح على غير ماء فأنزل الله آية التيمم فتيمموا فقال أسيد بن الحضير وهو أحد النقباء ما هي بأول بركتكم يا آل أبي بكر فقالت عائشة فبعثنا البعير الذي كنت عليه فوجدنا العقد تحته
